To Our Friends of Pembroke, we extend a huge thank you for your support,
What began with a vision and a dedicated group of community advocates has grown into a catalyst for community-led change. Since its founding in 2018, the Community Development Corporation of Pembroke-Hopkins Park (CDC-PHP) has worked alongside residents, nonprofits, and government partners to strengthen Pembroke Township through conservation, youth development, sustainable infrastructure, and community revitalization.
Over the years, CDC-PHP has coordinated youth stewardship and employment programs, advanced broadband and energy initiatives, protected important community lands, and transformed a once local institution into a center for community engagement, education, and conservation.
Today, we are excited to advance our next major initiative: the OKAN Savanna Nature & Visitor Center, an expansion of the current 60-acre OKAN Welcome Center campus.
Following our June 20 launch event, the project has entered its development phase and will serve as a regional hub for conservation, education, eco-tourism, workforce development, and community gathering.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped seed this vision. With your support, we met our initial fundraising goals and are now fully engaged in planning, growth, and development of the OKAN Savanna Nature & Visitor Center.
We invite you to continue planting the seeds for Pembroke's future. Our next 2026 $200K goal will help advance planning, stewardship, programming, and the long-term development of this important community asset and regional destination.
